This portion of the web site is dedicated to the exploring of local history, more specifically, some of the
almost forgotten stone structures of Pike & Wayne counties.
Just out of sight of most people, are amazing bits of architectural history, built 150 plus years ago. Many
of the structures are still functional ( bridges, walls and tunnel etc. ) other sites are mostly gone but are
still great examples of the skill and craftsmanship it took to create these engineering feats.
Many stone quarries once existed in the rugged Pike county landscape. Providing large amounts of
building material close by to build the infrastructure needed for the first industrial boom.
Finding, studying, and photographing these pieces of history serve as inspiration for building
landscapes and hardscapes, that will hopefully last as long.
